"What is the fate of Marine PFC Dennis Ray Carter (MIA)"

Dear , Senator Feinstein

I wish to find out what is being done to determine the fate of PFC Dennis Ray Carter, USMC who disappeared on 28 August 1966 while on a ambush patrol near Hoa Hai Village, South Vietnam (specific coordinates: grid square BT 0667). Although parts of an American wristwatch and two dog tags belonging to PFC John E. Bodenschatz, Jr. (a member of PFC Carter's Patrol, also missing) were found, no remains were recovered. There is no evidence that PFC Carter was killed, being a Marine, PFC Carter would have been able to survive harsh conditions.

The Marine Corps maintained PFC Carter as Missing in Action until 12 September 1974 when they determined that PFC Carter was killed while in captivity.

Please advise me of any action being taken by you or any other elected or appointed official to determine the fate and whereabouts of PFC Carter.

In the event nothing is being done, please explain the reason for no action and what you personally are doing to see that this does not occur again.

I invite you to visit my Internet web site Memorial Page for PFC Dennis Ray Carter for more information. At URL

Sincerely,

Clemence T. Matye
