Robert Curry

Rob is a brother Tanker and was a member of Bravo Company, First Tank Battalion from Feb. 67 - Mar. 68. Among other things for his efforts he was awarded two Purple Hearts. My thanks to Rob for his generous contribution.

Rob Curry And Gunner F23 Flame Tank.jpg (40831 bytes) Rob Curry sitting on the Tank Commanders Hatch with his Gunner Dan Farrell manning the machinegun.
Bravo 52 Blade Tank.jpg (18939 bytes) Each Tank Company had Blade Tanks and they traveled to where ever they were needed. This is Robs Tank, and crew loading ammo and supplies. Getting ready for the hunt !!!
Missed it by that much !! B-52 and crew stuck in the river waiting for assistance. Any tankers who spent time in Vietnam found themselves in a similar position at least once or twice... It was the nature of the "Iron Beast".
Bravo-52 after hitting a very large Land Mine near Hill 52. Many people think that Tankers were relatively safe, this picture shows that was not always the case. Land Mines and RPG's did take there toll.
F23 Flame Tank.jpg (38924 bytes) After Bravo-52 hit the mine the crew was assigned to a Flame Tank while waiting for a replacement Blade Tank. Rob to the left, center his gunner Dan Farrell, Steve his driver right. A pretty salty looking group if you ask me !!!
Rob Curry's brother; Parris Curry. Parris was with Charlie Company, 1st Battalion, 26th Marines, 1968-1969. Taking a break while patrolling the "Claw".
